Information Technology

Department of Information Technology is established in the year 2001 with an intake of 60 students. In the department there are 9 well equipped laboratories with latest hardware & software platforms. Latest Licensed design & application software have been installed in all laboratories. Students are encouraged to make use of open source software’s & these software’s are installed in the department laboratories. UG Program in IT department is accredited by NBA New Delhi for two years w.e.f. Nov 2013.

There are 16 experienced & well qualified teaching staff members & 5 supporting staff members who carry out the regular academic activities as well as curricular & extracurricular activities as per the plans prepared in advance at the beginning of every semester.

During this academic year 2014-15 strength of students in department is of 211. Apart from regular academic activities students take part in curricular & co curricular activities conducted by department organization ITERA as well as other department’s organization & professional bodies in the institute like CSI, ISTE, and IEEE etc.

There are three well-furnished class rooms with multimedia projector facility. Apart from the central library the department has its own library with a very good collection of reference, hand books and magazines.

PEOs-

PEO 1: Preparation : Graduates of IT program will be prepared to excel in postgraduate programmes or to succeed in IT industry / technical profession through global, rigorous education.

PEO 2: Core Competence : To provide students with a solid foundation in mathematical, scientific and multidisciplinary engineering fundamentals required to solve engineering problems and also to pursue higher studies.

PEO 3: Breadth : To train students with good scientific and engineering breadth in programming languages, DBMS, computer hardware and networking, system software,  software engineering  so as to comprehend, analyze, design, and create novel IT products and solutions for the real life problems.

PEO 4: Professionalism : To inculcate in students professional and ethical attitude, effective communication skills, leadership roles, project management and an ability to relate engineering issues to broader social context.

PEO 5: Learning Environment : To provide student with an academic environment aware of excellence, leadership, written ethical codes and guidelines, and the life-long learning needed for a successful professional career.
