To develop world class, multidimensional, competent, disciplined & ethical Mechanical engineers for our society, in particular and country, in general to achieve global recognition.
Our mission is to impart the technology of Mechanical Engineering to the students through class-room teaching, research involvement, innovative projects, and industry-institution interaction in addition to co-curricular & extra-curricular activities.
We are committed to the use of technology of Mechanical Engineering as a prime tool for the multifaceted development of our students in the emerging fields of Design, Thermal, Production & Mechatronics technologies.
Today Mechanical Engineer needs to have the capacity of adaptability and creativity in the new technical areas. Mechanical Engineering involves knowledge not only in their own specialized fields but also in wide interdisciplinary fields as well. To meet the above requirements Mechanical Engineering Department offers B. E. (Mech.) degree with an intake of 120 students’ regular + 60 lateral admission for Direct Second Year and M.E. degree in Design Engineering with an intake of 18 students, which has been accredited twice by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.
The department has well qualified and dedicated staff (44 in numbers) and is known for its high academic standard, well-maintained discipline and complete infrastructure facilities. The dedication and hard work of the staff members have given fruitful results with our students securing ranks at University examination consistently. There are 14 laboratories in the department, a separate CAD/CAM laboratory has been developed with various software’s such as Ideas, Master- Cam, ANSYS, Pro-ENGINEER, Catia, Unigraphics-NX4, CNC2000 etc. Also CNC milling and lathe machines, Robotic Workstations and Electric Discharge Machine have been added. Engine emission testing equipments like CO-HC gas analyzer and diesel smoke meter is also available in the Internal Combustion Engines laboratory.
The department is also conducting various certificate courses in CAD/CAM like Pro-E, ANSYS, Hypermesh etc. for the students as per the needs of the industry. The department has a departmental association MESA and students’ chapter of SAE which organized National level robotics competitions in the past. The department organizes RTME a National conference for students based on their BE projects. Department has also conducted Spoken Tutorial project on Scilab software which is being developed by IIT Bombay for MHRD, Government of India for 38 students in academic year 2013-14.
Department of mechanical engineering has organized number of workshops like condition monitoring using FFT analyser (2012-13), Application of Artifitial Neural Network Fuzzy logic and Genetic Algorithm in engineering (2013-14), Lab Practices Teaching Methodologies for Material Science and Engineering Metallurgy (2013-14), Lab practices of Hydraulics and Pneumatics Practicals (2014-15), Design of Machine Element with Standard Practices used in Design Office (2014-15), One week ISTE approved STTP on “Design of Experiment and Optimization Techniques (DOE-OT15)” (2014-15), Present Status and Future Trends in Renewable Energy Resources (2014-15),“Finite Element Methods for Engineering Application (FEM-FEA-2016)” (2015-16), Advanced Industrial Automation (2016-17), DELCAM Multi-axis & Turn mill (2016-17), etc. to update technical skill and knowledge in various domains
